Program Overview:
This free program encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he or she enters school – a goal experts say helps children learn to read.
Yes, it really is possible. Read one book to your child every day and before you know it, you will have read over 1,000 books in three years!
Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that provide a solid foundation to school and learning success. Plus, sharing stories together is fun!
Instructions:
Simply color in the number of books with our cute hidden picture reading logs. Download the logs or pick them up from the library.
Any time your child reads a book – or you read a book to them – mark it on the paper log. We encourage reading the same book several times – and each reading of the book counts. If you read “Pete the Cat” four times, log that as four books.
When you and your child reach milestones in the program fill out the online form below or drop the form off at the library to receive your rewards.
Rewards:
A sticker for every 100 book milestone.
A free book and book bag for the 500 book milestone.
A free book and certificate of completion for the 1000 book milestone.
